If a quilt is not the destiny for your threads, you can still do your part in renewing, reusing and recycling your clothes. Start by making three piles: keep, donate or toss.

keep: These are the clothes to pass down to the next generation, or to renew by mending buttons and hems, or to use to make a tender threads quilt. This pile of clothes is too precious to give away.

donate: These are the clothes which might help others. For the 600,000 homeless families in the United States, or the 28 million children living in low income families, these clothes could really make a difference.

toss: These are the clothes too worn-out or damaged to donate. These are the clothes to discard.
